That sucks 🙁 It’s really true they make it hard for us. If they only make it easier to register and pay, I believe lots of freelancers will start paying taxes!

On another note, what do you mean by ‘having your home RDO verified’?

I think you can go to your RDO and ask for a list of things they need so you can register and pay taxes. It can be quite confusing though. I applied as a “self-employed” professional. I had to go back and forth to the BIR because the lady at Window 3 won’t register me until I paid for the yearly PROFESSIONAL tax at the city hall.

Well, I’ve just started doing online work this year and it’s actually your Reason #2 that is my reason for wanting to register and pay my taxes accordingly. But what’s frustrating and truly disappointing for me is how BIR is making the process so cumbersome. Just to have my home RDO verified, I waited in line for almost 2 hours! And the office’s contact numbers are not contactable at all. Always busy. I tried emailing but the emails bounce because their mailbox is full. I’m referring to RDO 58 Batangas City.

Anyway, I will try again because I have a selfish reason to do so. But seriously, BIR, magbabayad na nga ng buwis, pinahihirapan nyo pa???
